Mona Vale Anglican Statement of Faith
Our statement of faith is detailed in the 39 articles (found at the rear of the Anglican Prayer Book). This remains the classical and definitive faith statement for all Anglicans.
The Nature of God – 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Peter 1:1-2; Matthew 28:19
We believe that God is Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Although difficult to comprehend, we believe that that is how the Bible presents God to us, and without this belief we cannot call ourselves Christian.
The Authority of Scripture - 2 Timothy 3:14-16; 2 Timothy 4:1-3
We believe that the Bible is the inerrant word of God and the Bible, and only the Bible, contains all things that are necessary for salvation.
Proclaiming Christ - 1 Peter 3:15-16; 1 Peter 2:9-10;
We believe that our mission is to be a faith community who declare and share the good news and love of Jesus Christ in word and action so that many more people will follow Him and be established in a faith community.
The Reconciling Work of Christ – John 14:6; 1 Peter 2:24; 2 Corinthians 5:18-19
We believe that Jesus is God in human form, that he came to earth, and, although he himself never sinned yet he was rejected by human beings and died on the cross to pay for our sins. God raised him from the dead on the third day thereby declaring to the entire Universe that eternal life is only in his son.
Prayer - Ephesians 6:18; Matthew 10:35-38
We recognise our total dependence on God and express this dependence as a community that prays and encourages prayer as a vital part of people’s lives.
Discipleship - Romans 12: 1-2; 1 Timothy 4:1-10; Ephesians 6:10-18
We believe that church is about making disciples by encouraging people to know and love the Lord Jesus and live and think in accordance with Scripture.
Service - Ephesians 4:11-16; Philippians 2:1-5;
We believe that each Christian is uniquely gifted by God to serve him and others, and, we are committed to intentionally encourage and equip people to serve.
Fellowship & Servanthood - Romans 12:9-16; Philippians 2:1-5;John 15:12-13
We believe that in and through the love of Christ, empowered by his Spirit we actively seek to care for and to embrace and include all people.
Weekly Gathering - Hebrews 10: 24-25
We believe that regularly meeting with other believers is essential for healthy Christian life, we believe this encourages people to engage with the risen Lord Jesus and the Bible.
Supporting Other Christians - 2 Cor. 9:1-11
We believe we have a responsibility to support fellow Christians undertaking Christian mission and aid work in Australia and around the world.
