Recent Events
Over the course of the year there are a number of events that form part of our calendar. Here are some of those events.
Jazz Cafe
Last October, we held a Jazz cafe event at the church. The main church area was completely transformed into a contemporary cafe style setting. A jazz band was hired and a delicious selection of finger food was on offer. To whet the appetites of caffeine lovers, a coffee van was available, and a wide variety of teas and other drinks were also on offer.
A short, evangelistic talk was presented by Ben Molyneux, from St Faith's, Narrabeen, based on Acts 17, challenging us to remove the idols from our lives and instead fill it full of God's love for us.
As the evening was such a success, it was agreed that we would run it again 18 October 2019! Email [email protected] for more information.

Nungalinya College
In July every year, a group from the church travels to Nungalinya College for a week of work. Nungalinya College is a Bible Training College for Indigenous Australians. It is located in Casuarina, a northern suburb of Darwin. The team comprises members from each of our congregations, and people of all ages. Our intention is to partner with the college by offering to provide whatever assistance is helpful for the college.
It is a fantastic week where members from the team undertake a variety of different tasks from building projects, gardening, organising the library, painting and building the website. It is a great blessing for the team as they witness firsthand the incredible work Nungalinya College is doing among Indigenous communities.

40 Hour Famine
In August Mona Vale Anglican organises a community event for the world vision 40 Hour Famine. We are deeply convicted of Jesus' command to 'Love your neighbour as yourself.' This is a great way to do exactly that by raising money for those who live in poverty and do not have enough to eat. We have been greatly blessed with other churches and community organisations who have shared with us in this endeavour, including the local schools, businesses, Pittwater soccer club and Pittwater council.
Darwin/Katherine Trip
A group from Mona Vale Anglican spent some time developing relationships with Christian People in the Northern Territory.
We spent 4 days in Katherine attending the Katherine Christian Convention. The convention is held annually (started in 1968) and there were about 800 people in attendance, it is the largest gathering of Christian Indigenous people in the Top End.
The second half of our trip was spent at Nungalinya College. One of the highlights was attending chapel every morning led by the students of the college (see photo). We also spent time with the staff of the college gaining a greater appreciation of the work they are doing and their passion to speak of Christ and train the students to lead in their respective communities.
Our goal in going to the Top End was to further develop and initiate contacts with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the churches to which they belong. We see our relationship with Nungalinya as very strategic in this ongoing mission.
