Children @ Mona Vale Anglican Church
Children are an important part of Mona Vale Anglican Church. In Mark 10:13-16 we see how Jesus welcomed little children and blessed them because he knows they are special to God, their heavenly Father. We want children who come along to Mona Vale Anglican to be blessed by Jesus through following him as his young disciples. We see our goal as a church to partner with the care-givers of these children so that we can work together to raise them as godly Christian people. Leaders who help with the children's programs are required to complete training in Safe Ministry as well as having a Working With Children Check, as part of our commitment to provide a safe environment for the learning and growth of the children God entrusts to our care.
Term 4 2020...We are back to face to face meetings for our Sunday Kids @ 10 program!
We look forward to welcoming you and your kids back to face to face Sunday worship.
We love including kids in our 10am congregation on Sundays. We have a range of different programs to cater for kids of all ages. During the first part of the service we encourage all kids to sit in with their family. We usually have kid's talk or skit which relates to the Bible series being taught for the term and then the kids will head out for their various groups and activities.
We run a crèche called for infants aged under 3, and a program known as Kids Quest for children in preschool to year 4.
In Kids Quest we sing, play games, pray, memorise verses from the Bible and do craft, which all link back to the Bible passage that is read and discussed in their smaller groups. We finish with a light lunch of sandwiches and fruit, and sometimes cake if there is a birthday to celebrate!
Our pre-teen program is called Soul Patrol and is aimed at years 5-7 students. This program is also held during the 10am service on Sundays. Our pre-teens engage in a style of studying the Bible that helps them develop skills to understand it when reading it individually in their own time.
At this age, we encourage the members of Soul Patrol to start taking on some responsibilities by helping to serve others in the church community. The group is involved in things such as sometimes welcoming people as they arrive at the service and providing morning tea for the adults. They may even help out in Quest Kids by running a game or teaching the memory verse all of which gives them experience in a leadership role. When pre-teens complete the Soul Patrol program they can choose to be a junior helper in one of the children's programs run at Mona Vale Anglican.
