The youth of the Pittwater area are facing a variety of challenges and changes in their lives. They are undergoing a radical shift in their self-identity. They are facing pressures at school, home and from the media. Their peer group is playing an increasingly important role in their life. Our youth ministry at Mona Vale Anglican is a place where the youth of Pittwater can come and find answers to the big questions of life by hearing God's answers in the Scriptures. They can meet other similar-aged Christians who have given their lives to follow Jesus. They will have another voice to help them navigate through into young adulthood laying down a solid foundation for their future lives. As with the other children's programs, leaders of the youth at Mona Vale Anglican must also meet the requirements of having done Safe Ministry Training along with holding a current Working With Children Check clearance, although this age group probably don't think of themselves as 'children'!
Friday Night Youth Group
On Friday night the youth group meets together during school terms to study the Bible and pray together. We start at 6pm and spend some time having fun playing games before looking at what God has to teach us in the Bible. We finish up with supper at 8pm. All for only $4 a night or $30 for the term! Over the course of the year we also do a number of different social events.
We encourage those who come to the Friday night youth group to attend Soul Patrol at 10am (for years 5-7) on Sundays or come along and participate in the new evening service for youth and young adults, Ignite Cafe Church.
Anyone from year 6-12 is welcome to join us on Fridays to meet new friends, have fun and explore the Bible.
Year 5 is able to come from term 4.
"You have been raised to life with Christ. Now set your heart on what is in heaven, where Christ rules at God's right side. Think about what is up there, not about what is here on earth." Colossians 3:1-2 (CEV)
This is our focus for the older youth. They are encouraged to attend Ignite Cafe Church, a new informal Sunday evening service for youth and young adults which meets from 5.30pm. Any young people from year 8+ are welcome to come along.
